Lyndsy, what was your goal and your results?

When I first went to the gym my goal was to be able to keep up with the children when running around the park with a football!

After a few months I began to feel fitter and was running further outside of the gym. After the summer it occurred to me my jeans were tighter and I wasn’t impressed with myself. I mentioned to Kieran that I’d like to lose a few pounds and he suggested joining the ‘Learn To Be Lean’ programme. I was anxious at what this might entail but had seen other success stories online which persuaded me I could do it.

Some of the habits in the programme were easier to follow than others but I was beginning to see results so stuck with it! Overall I have lost a stone and a half, 10cm from my waist and 6cm from my hips and I don’t intend for it to end there!*

What are you doing differently now to before you decided on your goal?

Firstly I exercise 4 times a week. I think about what I’m eating and try not to snack. If I do I try to eat well rather than rubbish (sticking to the habits learnt). I try to plan meals through the week. I eat a lot slower, and taste more of the food I’m eating.

If someone had said to me 18 months ago I’d be running 3 miles I would have said I can’t run, I don’t run, I’ve never run. However I do run at least once a week and can run 3 miles. I’d like to run a 5k organised run sometime this year.

How do you stay motivated?

Seeing results has helped me to stay motivated. I actually enjoy exercising and feel good at the end of the session.

What would you say to someone struggling to get motivated to get to gym?

Think how many sessions you want/ need to go to. Think when you can make time for this and book in to do it! Put it on the calendar/ in your diary. Then think how great it would feel when you had been! Don’t beat yourself up if you can’t go because life gets in the way.

What are you looking to achieve now?

To keep up the good work, continue to be lean and tone up. Run in a 5k event!

What do you like about the Diligent Fitness studio vs other gyms you’ve been to?

DF is a friendly place to be. If you are not sure of what to do there’s always someone there to ask and you don’t feel daft asking! Also if you are not doing an exercise as you should then someone will let you know. I also like booking in to the session as it makes it an appointment and you don’t want to miss it. It also helps to plan the week ahead thinking what time you have to get all those little jobs done. It’s a lot more personal and friendly than a faceless, corporate chain that I tried before.
